June 2021 Makes

This was the month of lemons and gifts for my sewing. I started by making some burp cloths and a baby blanket for friends of ours that had just had a baby. I used camelot 3D patch fabric and flannel from Joann’s. I did a self-binding blanket, but wouldn’t recommend it with the patch fabric as it is hard to get it to work out correctly. It is still functional though and the burp cloths were nice and quick to make.

My second project was a shirt using Simplicity 9273. I did the pleated sleeve view using a teal double brushed poly from Joann’s Galleria Revival collection. I like it though I would lengthen it next time. After this there was some busyness from family visiting and kitty vet emergencies that left me not wanting to sew for a couple weeks, but then I had a mad push to get birthday gifts for my partner done and my lemon projects.

I made the lemon print Black Beauty Bra next with findings from B,wear and yellow stretch mesh from the Tailor Made Shop. I like this bra so much. It is so summery and fun. I noticed all my Black Beauty Bra bands were rolling and figured out that it was because the strap length in the pattern is not long enough for my frame size. I lengthened them for this and it fits much better.

After this I furiously worked on a black leather belt with leather from Tandy and buckle from Rocky Mountain Leather. I also made my partner the Evergreen Shirt by Greenstyle Creations (free pattern!) with a beautiful and soft green knit.

My last project was the Butterick 6729 which is one of my favorite dress makes ever. I used Telio Bloom Stretch Cotton Sateen in the navy lemon print and yellow bias binding. I love this dress, it fits decently for being unaltered. It is so fun and unique and summery. I can’t wait to wear it. It was supposed to be for my birthday, but I couldn’t get the sleeves on in time.
